For the sub page I made little icons to go with each event. I added the rest of the activities on the side under the navigation.

Week 12 Outside of Class
I made changes to my home and sub pages to make them look more interesting. I moved things around so that when you go to responsive mode things are similar in the way they are laid out. I added more type treatment to catch the eye.

Week 12A
Today in class we continued to work on our sites based on our schedules. I had get the background and navigation done but I got a lot further than I thought I would. I finished a mockup of the home page desktop and mobile version. In class we talked about making my desktop version look like the responsive version I have. That means putting the navigation on the side. I also rearranged the content with type and images overtop of the pictures of the area.
Week 11 Outside of Class
Outside of class I had on my schedule to work on creating the background, navigation, and the header for the home and sub page mockups. I actually got a lot further than I thought I would. This was my first draft for my website. I found that the image and the navigation weren't working together so I decided to change the visuals.
This is my responsive version of the home page. I got rid of the main image and stacked the navigation.
This ended up being my final layout for the home page. I added a better photo. I changed the background to a wood texture and added footer information.
These are both of my sub pages. I am not sure which one to go with. They both have a lot of information.

Week11B
Today in class we went over our schedules. I made changes to mine. I also worked on my visuals but I saved over them. I didn't save over some pngs so I am going to use them

Week11 Outside of class
Outside of class I worked on a schedule for the rest of the semester. I also worked on redoing my home page wireframe. I also created a sub page wireframe to get a sense of what both would be like.
This is the home page. I fixed the navigation and header so that it's in a fixed wrapper. I also have a main image that disappears when you get to the responsive state.
This is my sub page. I made two sections for the rates above the main content because it's really important content.
This is my schedule for the rest of the semester.
Week11A
In class we went over what people had for visuals and home page wireframe. My responsive wireframe was wrong so I had to redo it. I was confused about the width of the screen so I made it go the whole way across the screen. I also did a little bit for visuals but not too much. I wasn't sure what to do with it but I got some really good ideas.

Week10 Outside of Class
Outside of class we had to create a wireframe of what we want our home page to look like. It seems pretty simple but it can definitely be difficult. I created a header, navigation, main image, main content and footer section. When it gets down to the 480 px or less I got rid of the main image and the navigation stacks on top of itself. I also made the content longer and the footer bigger to make up for the change in space. Here's the link to the page.

I also added a few changes to my visual. I came up with a different form of trunk to put behind my navigation.

Week10B
In class we took our existing fluid and fixed index files and made them responsive. I like doing this exercise because it helped me understand what to do without being worried about any of the content. I understand how to do and it doesn't seem too complicated. In class we also worked on continuing our visuals and carrying them further to work with our site.

Week10A
Today in class we critiqued the visuals we came up with and talked about our updated style tile. For my visuals I got a lot of feedback. Heather said to make my website a trail hiking upwards so give it more of a narrative. It could be anything like a hiker hiking up the canyon. Chris said to make the signs look like they're nailed into the wood background like you might see on a trail. They also said I should keep the wood texture but just dull it down so you can still read the type. Kate suggested that I make the tree and type go out of the seal shape I have and break the boundaries. In class we also started doing a fixed and fluid layout. Here's what they look like:

Week9 Outside of Class
This is my revised style tile. I added a logo going along with the color scheme. I also changed the top so that it was just a curved top. I changed the body copy to something a little bit thicker. I also changed the heading color to orange to match the seal at the top of the page.
These are more visuals. I wanted to see what this might look like for my navigation. I wanted them to be like road signs that you might see when at a campground.
These are my visuals. I took a photo that I had from the Pennsylvania grand canyon and used it as part of a logo for my site. I also referenced the visuals we created in class on Thursday. They helped me come up with different ideas for a logo. For the type I wanted to go with something clean and simple but also a little bit edgier to exemplify the campground.
Week9B
In class we did an exercise where we did visual translations and came up with typography based on someone's company/place. On Thursday I got to go and it was really helpful. It helped me come up with some ideas for a logo and an overall feel for the website I want to create. Here asre some of the translations some of my classmates did in class:
This one caught my eye because of the keystone shape. I think that would be good for my site.
This seal also caught my eye. I think it would represent the campground perfectly.

Week8 Outside of Class
This week outside of class we had to read an article about responsive design and how to design based on certain constraints. There were a lot of good points. I think one of the most important points was that you need to always have the fact that different types of devices have different specifications. Iphones and android phones are very different and you need to design based on those specifications. If you don't the results could be catastrophic.
I called the campground to gather a little bit of information. She told me that the site is there to get people to travel to the Pennsylvania grand canyon and stay at Pettecote Junction. She said that the audience she wants for her site is an audience full of travelers, fishermen, and anyone who rides the bike trails. With that in mind I thought of adding some illustrations pertaining to these different activities.
I also created wireframes based on the information I got. I want there to be a clear navigation with compelling images so that when a user comes to the sight they are enticed to visit this place. I also added a quote on top of the picture. I think travelers want to know about the experience and if there's a good review above the fold it will help draw the user to find out more information.

I also worked on creating a style tile. Since my site is a campground, I wanted to go with colors from nature but a little bit abstracted. I also picked textures that you would see in the woods.
